Assistant R&D Engineer

Position: Full Time

Position Description:

  • Assist the senior mechanical engineer in testing, optimizing, and validating components/elements of medical devices.

  • Perform hands-on testing in optimization of a device; conduct process development activities to understand process inputs and outputs

  • Assist/write technical documents, validation protocols and reports; prepare work instructions and standard operating procedures;

  • Assist in conducting design and process qualification and validation; support equipment development; support other activities from R&D, Quality, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs.

  • Understand statistical techniques to analysis data, generated appropriate plots/graphs required to show performance against acceptance criteria for DV reports.

  • Execute Design Verification testing, including building samples, adherence to test protocols/test methods, responsible data collection/preparation practices, and good lab practices.

Background and Experiences:

  • B.S. degree with 0-2 years of experience in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering field. Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering degree preferred.

Experience and skills Requirements:

  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience in R&D or process development, preferably in medical device or other regulated FDA/QSR and ISO environment.

  • Experience in process validation (IQ, OQ and PQ), writing protocols and reports to support verification and validation activities for product commercialization is a plus.

  • Experience in hand held electro-mechanical devices is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of FDA Design Controls required, working knowledge of international standards (e.g., ISO13485, ISO14971, ISO10993, IEC60601, etc.) a plus.

  • Experience developing product design deliverables a plus.

MEMS Engineer

Position: Full Time

Position Description:

  • Design, modeling, and layout of new proprietary mems and microstructure devices; fabrication management from start to finish using ndl facilities and external vendors followed by hands on trouble shooting, yield enhancement, and supply chain scheduling.

  • Supporting and managing current mems devices to be fabricated in foundry-supplied process flows.

  • Develop fundamental understanding of fabrication processes and product development methodologies

  • Design engineering solutions based on established engineering principles and in accordance with development technology practices and guidelines.

  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding project progress and issue resolution

  • Work with a team of engineers and technicians to develop reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for moderately-complex products in a fast paced new product introduction (npi) environment document and present project methods and results.

Background and Experiences:

  • Master or equivalent in EE, ME, or related field with specific education in MEMS design and fabrication. Familiar with micro-electronics as well as cutting edge microfluidics technology. Hands on experience with modeling, mask layout, and clean room fabrication.

Experience and skills Requirements:

  • Experience with mems multi-physics design and modeling software.

  • Photo-mask layout using autocad, cadence, l-edit or equivalent.

  • Interaction with manufacturing fabs, either captive or vendor.

  • Hands-on in-fab experience with surface micromachining.

  • Failure analysis methods, trouble-shooting, and yield enhancement.

  • Experience with bio-mems a plus.

  • Familiar with micro-electronics as well as cutting-edge microfluidics technologies.

  • Experience with mems packaging technology

  • A good understanding of other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, biomedical) and demonstrated ability to interface with those engineers.
